I mentioned this in another thread but while I was in Destin for Spring Meetings, I had some pretty serious chest discomfort. For two consecutive days it would start and then it would go away. The third day it wouldn’t go away and so we went to an ER there at Sacred Heart. After an overnight stay and a plethora of tests, we discovered some pretty extensive arterial issues that need to be addressed.
To that end, tomorrow, I will undergo open heart surgery at UAB. We will be doing a number of bypasses. My valves are in good shape so the structure of my heart is good, just the plumbing need work. I’ve been frustrated because I’ve tried to do things right but my surgeon says genetics are undefeated.
Anyway, if you are inclined toward prayer, I would appreciate your prayers tomorrow and in the next week. Please pray for my wife and family as I feel incredible guilt that I am putting them through this stress. I’m praying that God will give them a ridiculous peace that will make no sense to the world. I’m also praying Gid will be glorified and the Gospel will be advanced through this.
I think I’ll be in the hospital for about a week and then work from home for another month or so. I think the breastplate recovery is one of the reasons the recovery is so long.
We serve a mighty God and I don’t believe for a minute He’s done working in and through me yet. I believe that He is continuing the good work He has begun in me and will see it through to completion. I’ve got more to do.
I’ll probably be absent for a while (not that anyone would notice). You guys continue the ongoing argument without me and I’ll be back as soon as I can.
